Over 51 years ago, our Grandfather Maurice Reeves served his country in the Korean War. He returned to the small town in Oklahoma where his young wife Sandra was waiting for him. They packed up and moved to a suburb of Dallas where they setup shop out of their modest home. Sandra kept the books and took the calls while Maurice ran the calls solo. As time passed, word of Maurice’s workmanship and honest business ethics spread. With no advertising, their company grew as did their family. Sandra continued working out of their home while raising two children, unheard of at that time.
Our father, Larry, growing up “in the business” started at a young age apprenticing with his dad and became one of the youngest to receive his master plumber license. Maurice, Sandra and Larry worked side by side for many years until retirement finally lured the elder Reeves’ away to their country home. Larry continued running the business until he passed away at the age of 52.
The fate of the business was in limbo. Who would take over the business? Would the doors just close? Could we just sell to the highest bidder? Well, it doesn’t take much thinking to figure out what happened.... we are writing this story! So here we are, two sisters, running the show along with Maurice who gladly returned. We have revamped the business beginning with changing the name from Maurice Reeves and Son Plumbing to Reeves Family Plumbing. We are now a HUB certified business meaning that we are at least 51 % woman owned and controlled and hope to become more active in the government procurement programs. This is a new venture that would never had been possible before. However, we continue to provide quality work and the highest customer service along with following that advice that our Grandfather instilled in our dad and in us, NEVER sell something to a client that they don’t need.
